Sorry for the lack of posts, I have a lot of studying to do.
But tonight I wanted to address something I've been wanting to write about for a while.
These 'squat challenges' that a lot of people seem to take on every month, in my opinion are not beneficial, nor will they build you a bigger butt!
If you want to build muscle, you need to be taring them muscles down, by applying heavy weights, resting your muscles and allowing them to grow (of course with adequate nutrition) I've posted previously about how to build a booty, go check it out!

So what's wrong with these 'squat challenges?'
Presumably when by day 29 your doing 240 squats..you're doing them as body weight squats..with bad form. Lots of body weight squats will not build you a booty! When we lift weights, there's a basic principle that when we can lift a certain weight for instance..3 sets of 12 with ease then we make the exercise more intense (by adding some weight) As I mentioned before, lifting heavy is key, and don't forget the importance of good form. Over 200 squats is recipe for an injury, and an injury that is very pointless..because you won't be building any muscle. Doing 200+ squats is surely cardio, not weight lifting.
Another thing I don't like about these challenges is the fact they always advertise a woman with a great figure, and usually a great ass. Not only is this unrealistic (these women definitely did not get that body by doing this squat challenge for a month) but it also completely undermines what we're trying to encourage! a healthy lifestyle and mindset should be foremost. Fitness is a lifestyle, and should not be given a time limit.
If you want to build muscle, then you're far better off lifting heavier, and doing less repetitions. Don't waste your time and energy on the squat challenge.

However, if you're incorporating this as part of your weight loss program etc, and you're practicing correct form, you may find it motivating. I'm not saying challenges as a whole are a bad thing, they're pretty good for encouraging people who don't normally workout!

Squats are great, and even if this challenge motivates you to do more squats that's awesome because they really do work your body if performed correctly. Just be aware that how you do them will vary their results, if you want to build then you know what to do!
