5 lean muscle building foods!

The ultimate goal is to build lean muscle, therefore you want to be maximizing  your nutrition, get the most out of your food. Eat foods that will nourish your body, promoting growth and well being. I am not however saying do not treat yourself, treats are good for the soul. They keep us sane too, prevent us from crazily over dosing on junk food when we get the chance (me at Christmas)
Here are some great foods to build lean muscle

- Beetroot (believe it or not)
Beetroot is very nutrient dense, containing lots of beneficial vitamins. They contain Nitric oxide or NO(which is commonly used in supplements to give bodybuilders the “pump” and help with endurance)NO increases blood flow to the muscles, allowing your mitochondria to produce more energy. Recent trials have actually proved that beetroot improves performance.

- Brown rice
Great energy source, full of fibre too. It will fill you up and fuel your workouts also can help boost your growth hormone (GH) levels, which are critical for encouraging lean muscle growth, fat loss and strength gains.

- Cottage cheese
Rich in casein, a very slow release protein (prevents your muscles being used as energy during the night)
great to eat before bed!

- Eggs
Boost lean muscle growth and don't skip the yolks! they provide a cholesterol which actually reduces the levels of bad cholesterol in your body. If you like eggs incorporate them into an omelette, your oats or any type of eggs you like..if like me, you dislike the taste make pancakes or a mugcake.

- Almonds
Great source of vitamin E, prevents free radical damage after your workouts. The fewer the hits from free radicals, the faster your muscles will recover!

Try and add these foods to your diet! your muscles will thank you.
